This week has been a whirlwind of harvesting (some like collards or chard, which get harvested the day before we send them out, and some like sweet potatoes, which get harvested and then cured for a week before being stored for distribution through the fall and winter).
At the same time, we've also been working to prepare for next season, by spreading compost on fields, seeding cover crops to grow over the winter, and building compost piles to use next spring.
It's been busy, but satisfying, and we've enjoyed the cooler weather, which makes our work that much more pleasant. Good work, good weather, and good company make for happy farmers.
Meanwhile, several people have asked how long the CSA continues; this year we've extended it all the way to December 20th. In years past, we've transitioned to a second season, but it's always confusing, and a bit of hassle, so this year we are just continuing on until winter with the main season.
Also, we are still using your amazon mailers, please keep those heading our way, they are a great way to keep the meet cold, and a fantastic thing to be re-using.
Thank you for letting us be your farmers.
Curtis and the crew.
