Farm Happenings for May 21, 2024

Posted on May 17th, 2024 by Kimberly Decker

The farm is starting to drain off, the puddles are drying, and the sun is shining.  This is great news, meaning that the tomatoes are growing, the peppers are warming up, and the cucumbers are happier.  Of course, the radishes, arugula, and herbs didn't really mind the rain, although some of the pounding rain was a bit much.  The point is that the garden is looking good, and the covered spaces have done a good job of keeping things a little warmer and drier where that was important, and so we have some great produce this week, and more to come.

Two important notes:

First, we still have some space for more members in the CSA, so if you know folks who might enjoy the regular supply of high-quality vegetables, fruit, meat, bread, and flowers, then by all means please send them a link to our website, or have them give me a call, at 4178390847.  There is a referral credit available, $25 per new member, if you know someone who wants to sign up, you can both get $25 toward produce by using the refer a friend link at the top of your membership profile on Harvie.

Second, in my role as chair of the Schoolcraft Chapter of The Ozark Society, a conservation group focussed on education, recreation, and conservation of the glorious Ozarks, I'm helping host Doug Tallamy tomorrow afternoon at the Darr Center, 2 pm.  Tallamy is an ecologist, author, and speaker, who shares his insights into the biodiversity crisis our world is facing, and some practical things we can do to reduce the cost of our lawns, while increasing the biodiversity and beauty in our neighborhoods.  The presentation is $20, free for Ozark Society Members, so come on out to the Darr Center tomorrow and learn from this remarkable man.

As always, we want you to be absolutely thrilled with your CSA share, so if you have any type of problem, feel free to reach out by responding to this email, or by texting me at 4178390847.

Thanks,

Curtis
