The warm weather has been a bit warmer than we would choose, but on the other hand, it has really helped the carrots and beets grow fast, which is always welcome this time of year. The crew has been busy keeping the fall crops weeded, the end of summer crops harvested, and clearing out crops that are done, to make space for winter favorites like spinach, kale, and others. The fall light is noticeably different, with more of an orange glow, even in the middle of the day, but that doesn't keep it from being pretty intense on these dry, warm days. The sunsets and sunrises are always spectacular in the fall, and the wildfires in the west have meant even more evening color than usual.
Last Saturday's sweet potato harvest was a big hit; we harvested almost 4000lbs of potatoes, and they are curing for winter storage now.
I hope you have time this weekend to get out and enjoy the beauty of the season.
