With the change in the weather this weekend, and the official beginning of fall with the Autumn Equinox, the season is official. We love this time of year, as the weather is such a treat to be out in, and we have the greatest variety of vegetables of the year; we still have some tomatoes, lots of peppers, eggplant, cucumbers and summer squash, but we're also starting to get harvests of those luscious fall greens, like kale, lettuce, salad mix, and arugula. The winter beets and carrots are looking great, largely weed-free due to the diligence of Ron, Micah, and Adam, and we're looking for a bountiful harvest. This week, quantities of many items are a bit lower than usual, mostly due to this shift in seasons, while variety is high. Don't worry too much if you don't score the first fall crops this week, there will be more soon. Remember to sign up for Fall and Winter Shares soon, so you don't miss any veggies. www.harvie.farm/signups/millsap-farms

About the farm
Millsap Farms is a first generation family farm, located just 4 miles north of Springfield Missouri. Curtis and Sarah Millsap, along with their 10 children, farm manager Kimby, and a few interns, apprentices, and volunteers, grow 2 acres of vegetables year-round on their 20 acre farm. They grow a wide variety of vegetables, using organic techniques, never using synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, and focussing on the health of the soil. The Millsaps have been farming full-time for 17 years, and have a serious long-term commitment to their community to provide high quality produce and a welcoming farm.
