Welcome to the first pickup of the 2019 summer CSA season. We’ve been preparing for this day for months, beginning with planting garlic back in October of last year. We’ve seeded, transplanted, weeded, and, finally, harvested, the bounty you get to take home Saturday, and in weeks to come. We’ve spent days planning, considering where, how much, and when to plant each variety and type of vegetable. We’ve tested and amended the soil, then broadforked, tilled, raised beds, raked, and/or laid biodegradeable plastic on the beds. The plants have been pampered with heat in the greenhouses, transplanted into the beds with covers over them, watered diligently ( a little over-exuberantly last week), and finally, after weeks or even months of growth, Saturday we’ll send them home to your kitchen, ready to be sliced and diced and cooked to nourish your family. As farmers, this is really what it comes down to; our effort is rewarded by the satisfaction of knowing that all these delicious veggies are going to provide healthy, tasty, and beautiful food for your table. So from our farm to your table, thank you for being a part of summer CSA this season, and we look forward to hearing more about how you use the bounty of the farm in your kitchen.
Thanks, Farmer Curtis
