It's going to be an unusual independence weekend without the gatherings for fireworks during Emancipation Day on Friday and the U.S Independence Day on Saturday. SO... we are packing them in a box for you.
There will be a lot of color exploding in your shares. This week we have smaller gatherings of each crop type, yet a much wider diversity of crops available. In fact, we have 27 different types of crops this week in our inventory.
We are thankful for our golden pineapples who had a sweet season and are now offering new pups to multiply our plantings for future years. We have savored their success after re-planting all of our plots after hurricane Maria. If you plant the side suckers that are seen in the photo above, it takes about a year and a half to get a fruit. The tops of the fruits take 2-3 years to fruit, but they are also worth the wait. In a year and a half from now we should be swimming in the fruits. Many more will come between. This week, only a few are left to share and we hope they are fully enjoyed. Let them show their color for best results.
Our dark green crispy cucumbers are still going strong, deep red radishes and verdant arugula are abundant, yellow mangoes are going slower than expected yet are still ample, sunflower shoots are popping, and orange carrots are booming. There are new purple eggplants, dark green zucchini, and burgundy okra making a limited appearance. Yellow Starfruit, organge eggfruit, and sun ripening papayas are on the rise. Make sure you look around on your customization feature to see all that's available to get your best share this week:)
There will be plenty other colorful extras available at the Farm Tienda market on Mahogany Rd (from 11-3pm) so please come see us. We are so pleased to be offering a steady supply of organic fruits and vegetables:) Your support makes it all possible.
Enjoy this weekend's celebrations,
Nate & the Farm Crew
