Happy New Year! We are so excited to start it off right with the opening of our Winter Farm Share Season.
First of all, thank you for supporting your local organic farm and our partner farms with featured offerings. We are also very appreciative of Leatherback Brewing Co. for hosting our largest box pick up location! To make this organic farm thing work, it truly takes a community to make it happen, and you are the most important part of it.
Now, to the crops this week: Greens are in no shortage with ample mustards, kale, and arugula. There are loads of lettuce. Root crops include radishes and turnips. Some amazing tomatoes are ripening just at the right time, and we are having to keep up with the zucchini with all this rain! There is starfruit, coconut, and bananas among some of the fruits. Red basil, oregano, fennel (with a head that is great to cook as a veggie), and other herbs are available. There is a long list of other things to swap out with if you want to play around with your food;) We have so many items that we actually had to hold back to try and keep it simple. It's a GREAT problem!
Please tell others about the CSA. We are opening up new seasonal members this evening to begin next week. Also, we will have many extra Farm Shares this week available on the Harvie Farm stand for those without seasonal memberships yet.
Also please note that a new add-on has been created, local Goat Cheese (!) from Fiddlewood Farm. We are opening up shares for all members tonight, and supplies are limited weekly (she only has so many goats).
Since we have almost everything but cucumbers this week, we listed some crunchy cukes from our friends at Tropics Hydroponics farm. We will have organic cucumbers available in about a month.
Remember to pass by our Farm Tienda on Saturday morning for a selection of crops and tasty prepared goodies from Misfit Island Munchies!
Let's do this year right~
