Fruit season is in full swing and we are finding ourselves already overwhelmed with pineapples and mangoes. Many of our pineapples that are ripening are a bit on the smaller size so this week we have added an additional category of pineapple - "mini". These mini pineapples are still just as sweet and tasty as the larger ones and they are perfect personal pineapples (if you can get away with not sharing with anyone else!) Pictured above is the first pineapple harvested from one of our pineapples fields that we planted a year ago. This was actually one of the first projects I worked on when I got to the farm so it was really special seeing the fruits I planted a year ago finally produce!
The rains we have been getting for the past week or so have really helped some of our crops along such as zucchini, cherry tomato and bell pepper. Keeping on top of weeding our gardens has been a bit of a struggle but our crew is determined to keep the grass levels down in the name of helping the baby crops survive. P.S. don't tell Mother Nature I've been complaining because she's liable to get mad and stop giving us this glorious rain. Anyways, we hope everyone has a fantastic week and we look forward to seeing you this weekend. Don't forget to stop by the Farm Tienda for some special goodies (rumor on the street is there will be Jenny's famous farm pesto!) and Misfit Island Munchies!
