Happy Tuesday :)
This week on the farm, with all the good rains we have been getting, our new crop of slicer tomatoes are really starting to take off. Also, en lieu of all the rain we have been applying plenty mulch to aid in water retention and weed suppression. It is also a great time to start planting trees, ahh, yes, trees!! Is there anything better than getting in the dirt, and planting some fruit trees? I think not. And its that type of activity that will keep your future boxes robust with many varieties of tropical fruits.
In addition to planting trees, we have been planning and executing the planting of fields for our winter CSA, which starts in 4 short weeks. We are going to be experimenting with some new varieties of things that we are supper excited about....More on that later...
We'd also like to address the some feedback we received about the okra. As our plants get more mature, it can be difficult to discern when fruit is woody or tender. This week we are offering less okra in the shares in order to ensure that we are only sending out the best of what we have available.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our last slow down dinner this past Saturday. We have two more dinners this month, Saturday the 18th and Thursday the 30th so make sure to RSVP to our email if you're interested in participating! We hope everyone has a splendid week.
