Happy New (CSA season) Year!

Posted on January 4th, 2022 by Elizabeth Gallo

Welcome to 2022...and the 16 week Winter/Spring CSA! Thanks for joining us :) This season will hold changes in weather, we've already been experiencing the effects of the dryness, changes in crops and a bit of change in the organization of how we do things here on the farm. But fear not, change is good! We have lots of big plans for this new year and we are oh so excited that you've chosen to partake in this journey with us.

While we enjoyed a brief hiatus from our CSA duties we're ready to jump back into action. This week to kick things off we have some exciting new crops to share with you all as well as some seasoned favorites. Tomatoes are currently taking over my life and I cannot wait to get rid of them, and better yet get them to people who I know will enjoy them. A fun new crop we're trying out this season is broccolini, or baby broccoli, to be honest I'm not sure of the difference or if the deer will leave us alone long enough for us to find out. But in the meantime this week we are offering bunches of the broccoli leaves which are super tender and delicious, kind of like a cross between kale and collard greens. I'm a big fan, and as I mentioned so are the neighborhood deer, so get these while you still can. Another crop we're having some trouble with this season is our zucchini. Due to some pest issues our fruits are a bit misshapen, however they are still super tender and delicious, so we marked down the price a bit and hope there are some amongst you who will still enjoy these guys.

We want to extend a welcome to any newcomers or CSA first-timers, please never hesitate to reach out to us with any questions you may have about the CSA program or the farm or anything related (we're kind of nerdy about talking farming). To all of our previous members, welcome back, we're so grateful you joined us for another season and we can't wait to have the chance to provide you with high quality organic produce again.

Long live organics!
