Hello Folks!
This week brings us new beginnings as we prep beds in our terraces. These beds are the foundation of our next couple of months of production, and it takes a lot to get them perfect! The big job has been raking hay and chipping tan tan to use as mulching for the beds. This is an important part of our system and acts as both a weed suppression method as well as a way to incorporate organic matter into our soil. That layer of hay on top of the beds will act as a barrier protecting the surface of the beds from drying out, while the mulch in the walkways will hold water like a sponge, holding water near the beds for longer and allowing the plants time to uptake more water after our precious rain events in the coming months.
We hope y'all continue to enjoy the produce each week!
Best,
Jesse
