Yes the blessings from the sky have continued strongly and the crops are jumping! This week we have 24 different items for you to choose for your customized box of organic soil-grown goodies. A new entry this week is sweet muir lettuce that is two weeks ahead of schedule. Also, dill is making a surprise appearance as that crop trial has been better than expected. The tomatoes are now jamming. We have two more items appearing next week but we don't want to jinx it like we did with the corn last season after the deer found it. So, shhhh...
A few items have also fallen of the list or are going out soon. Our first plot of kale and mustards are over, and cucumbers are in short supply this week, but they will be back later in the season. The heavy rains put a dent in the arugula, so it's slightly spotty but still great. We will see how they do next week. Pesky aphids are enjoying the new kale and bok choy along with us, so if you find a few tiny green bugs on them that we missed in washing, you can rub them off gently in the sink or just enjoy the extra protein as they are completely safe to eat. I give extra thanks for our stellar farm crew for battling through some intense and consistent rains for fighting for our food that we are proud to share with you:)
Remember to let us know if you made a special dish or to tag us on your social media posts. So far, many members have commented on the recipes and tips available in the weekly emails, and we appreciate it. We could do twice as many shares as we are providing now, so we appreciate the word of mouth to share what's happening:) Tell a friend;)
Also, thank you for returning your boxes and/or bringing bags to unload your produce to reduce waste. Remember that you can also take your aluminum cans for recycling at our awesome hosts at Leatherback Brewing Co.
Thanks for your support of the farm and our partners and we hope that your enjoy your share to it's fullest. If you need any inspiration, I suggest to come up to the farm for a farm dinner! You can join the mailing list for our farm food events by clicking here.
In gratitude of all the blessings,
Nate & the farm crew
