Welcome to week two of the 2021 CSA season on Millsap Farm. We had a pretty good week of sunshine last week, although it has been really cool for May. Usually by now we're in the 80's on a daily basis, and the plants really respond to that heat. Instead, we've had highs in the 60's, and lows in the 30's until this week. It's been the slowest season I can remember; all the heat lovers are stressed and slow, and even the cooler weather crops, like lettuce and broccoli are behind schedule. On the other hand, it's been great weather for transplanting, with very little moisture stress, and a gentle transition from the sheltered and muted light of the greenhouse into the harsh light of the field. Anyway, that's farming for you, one season is never like another, and we grow a diverse enough pallette that there is always something producing. Hope you enjoy this week's abundance of greens and salad fixings, and please keep us posted if you run into any problems with Harvie, or any other aspect of your CSA share.
Thanks,
Curtis Millsap
