Here comes the frost!!!
We had a great run of warm fall weather, and it looks like it will end with a sudden chill this coming week. We will do some heating to get the bell peppers through this first round of cold weather, but it will be the end of the tomatoes, eggplant, figs, and squash. The warm fall has allowed us a bumper crop of sweet potatoes, daikon, carrots, beets, and other fall crops, which we will be enjoying for a few months now. Meanwhile, we spent several hours today spreading covers to protect vulnerable crops like broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower from the cold, so the farm looks like an ocean of floating row cover.
