It was a wild week on the farm; the young farmers (my daughters and their friends) held a "farm camp" Monday through Friday this week. Between 15 and 25 youth, from 8-16 years old, arrived on the farm at 7:45 every morning. They worked in crews, weeding the beans, harvesting radishes, mulching beds, and dozens of other tasks.
They made lunch together, swam in the creek every day, and went home tired and happy. This is something Sarah and I hosted several years back, when our children were 12 and under, but we had let it lapse, because we don't have quite as much energy as we used to have. It was very satisfying to see the next generation host, teach, mentor, and inspire a whole new group of young folks. Plus, the farm hasn't been this weed-free in years!!! It was truly a win-win all around.
We love hosting young folks on the farm; it seems to me that they are the hope for our future, and we should put everything we can into helping them grow up into amazing adults. Your support of this farm is a big part of how we can make space for Farm Camp, School Tours, and so many other opportunities. Thank you for that.
Sincerely,
Curtis and Sarah and the Crew.
