Here we are in the last two weeks of our Summer Farm Share CSA and we are so excited to have a strong finish in store for this weekend and the next. Avocados are peaking out this week, as are the most delicious genips in all the land. Okra is loving the heat of summer and dancing along while zucchini are bulging by the day. We are introducing a new basil variety this week, red rueben, which is as flavorful as it is beautiful. There are 28 options in varying amounts this week, so there is plenty to swap and to use in your kitchen.
Lately, the relative lack of wind and humidity has made it feeling HOT on the farm. I would like to thank our amazing crew for weathering the heat and all the conditions this season, in what will be our longest single CSA season ever. We've had drought, heavy rain periods, bugs galore, a global pandemic, and now brutal heat, but they have been putting in all the effort and time to make certified organic crops happen no matter the circumstances. We are drinking lots of water and trying to avoid the mid-day sauna while tackling all the pressures ranging from weeds to bugs and plant diseases. My hat goes off to our crew. Please join me in the recognition for their hard work that has made this incredible season possible:)
Now is a great time to review your membership preferences to see if your auto-renew feature is on for our upcoming fall season that will start sometime in November or early December. Turn it on if you want first preference in the limited shares we will be offering. Until that time, we will soon be offering two market stands a week at our Little La Grange Farm Tienda. There will also be some "pop-up" Farm Shares occurring, so remember to watch your email when farm shares come available as you wil have to order each time to get a box after the regular season. As always, thank you for your support. It's much more than food that your money is going towards. It is a locally produced food revolution.
Please visit us this weekend at our Farm Tienda and enjoy your farm share to its fullest!
In good food,
Nate & the Farm Crew
