This week our deer protection game has been strong as we are working on defending our fields and gardens from their presence. As pictured above, farm apprentices Matt and Dimitri built their own version of a scare-crow in order to deter the deer from entering our garden. In addition to this, we've finished a full fence around a new terrace plot that will allow us to plant lots of greens and other crops that deer love to eat without having to worry about them getting in.
Other than warding off our pesky neighbors, the deer, we have kept busy taking care of crops in other ways by weeding, pruning and trellising. Our greenhouse is bursting with cucumbers thanks to our crew's diligent care so keep an eye out for those when building your boxes. In the future we are planning to add more floral options to our boxes in the form of edible pumpkin blossoms and cut zinnia flowers so make sure to adjust your preferences when these become available if flowers are your thing!
