Amongst all the hustle and bustle of day to day farm chores, sometimes there needs to be time made for getting things in order. Today we did just that. In preparation of fruit season we focused some much needed energy into liberating fruit trees and the land in general from the ever encroaching bush. With an unseasonably wet early spring, we found it necessary to do just that....Boy, does it feel good to get some things in order. The instant gratification of doing projects like this is very satisfying, and makes the day to day much more pleasant. Because, as we know here, not all tasks bear fruit without a bit of patience and nurturing. That being said, no matter the task at hand, big or small, complex or straightforward, the goal is always the same. To do it once, and do it right.
Along with de-vining trees and beating back the bush, lots of weeding has also been in order. Pictured above is our crew working on pulling weeds from our greens. We have lots of greens currently, red and green mustards for cooking, lettuce and asian greens for salads and broccoli greens and chard for everything else. Our green beans are still going strong so we recommend adding those to your share while supplies last. If you are running out of ideas with what to do with so many delicious, fresh green beans, try picking them. Dilly beans are great for snacks, Bloody Mary's, charcuterie boards, you name it. If you need more inspiration for what to create with the produce in your shares, consider joining us at the next Slow Down Dinner. We have dinners April 23 and 30 so make sure to RSVP if you are interested.
We hope everyone has a stellar week and we look forward to seeing you this weekend.
