Water is an amazing liquid! Did you know our bodies are up to 60% water? We use water for cooking, drinking & cleaning. We also enjoy water for recreational activities like swimming, boating, and snow skiing. What you may not realize is that water has the ability to save a crop from freezing? It seems very counterintuitive, but incapsulating the blooms in ice is their salvation. Last week we had to frost protect our Blueberries. We sprinkled them all night and by the morning the bushes were covered with ice. It was a beautiful sight! As the water froze it released heat which protected the blossoms and fruit from freezing. The interns and I stood in the patch and marveled at the miracle that ice can preserve life. Ponder the many lessons!
