Educational Experience

Many of you know that Bountiful Blessings Farm is a teaching farm and that our interns are not simply a work force rather a part of what we feel God has called us to.  During the six months they are with us we are pouring into them a broad scope of experiences.  This weekend was one of those nonagricultural trips.  In Waynesboro we have friends who run an in home lifestyle center.  Their guests come for 10 days and they work with them from a wholistic approach: mental, physical and spiritual (Here is there website if you want to look them up www.chooselifeabundant.com ). This weekend we took our interns for a CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) training.  We had activities and classes Friday - Sunday and learned so much about ourselves, each other, how to work better together and how to handle the vicissitudes of life. We know that much of the illness we face today begin in the mind and we are probably familiar with sayings like, “change your thoughts, change your life…” I think there is more truth in those type of sayings than we realize.  We came away determined that in Christ's strength we can root out the cognitive distortions in our lives.  If you too are interested in learning more about this we recommend the book Telling Yourself the Truth by William Backus

On the farm front the produce gets a bit drab this time of year as nothing, not farmer's not food, thrives in the heat of summer.  But, there is still plenty of good looking food out there to fill your boxes this week.

Have a Great week!!
