Farm Happening 7/11-7/16/21

Posted on July 11th, 2021 by Pam Dysinger

"Rain, rain go away come again another day..." I remember chanting this with my school friends as a child. It didn't make any difference in the weather but we would have fun clapping and chanting and inevitably our joy would return despite the rain.  Well, we don't chant around our farm, but when we look at the weather forecast and it shows rain for two weeks, my thoughts say something like the above quote.  Yes, we need rain but too much is not good, as the photo above shows.  This year we made our first attempt at growing a Tennessee heirloom field corn.  The goal was to provide our own corn meal needs and maybe have a little to share with you.  But, in recent rains the corn was flattened, which was very disappointing!  You can see a few stalks that are still standing - it was beautiful!  So what do we do when we get knocked down - stand back up!  That is exactly what we are trying to do with the corn but only time will tell if it will be salvageable.

Wishing you a great week from the Bountiful Blessings Farm crew!
