On the farm this week, we've been starting our fall plantings! Mid-June through early July is the window for getting most of our fall-maturing crops seeded or in the ground, to ensure that we'll have food all fall and winter long. In the picture, Michelle is marking the spacing for seed potatoes while Spencer puts them in the ground. The variety in the foreground is "All Blue".
Since we're a year-round farm, we actually NEVER stop seeding! We seed or transplant something every single week of the year. However, if we want fall potatoes, cabbage, carrots, beets, winter radishes, kale and chard, now is the time to get them seeded or in the ground.
Early spring potatoes debut this week! Enjoy.
