Welcome to Week 1!

Welcome to the first week of the Fall Moose Meadow Farm CSA!  We are so glad you're here.

If you've been a member with us over the summer, thank you for returning!  If you are new to us, a big hearty welcome!
 
We have a few new items that we'll be offering throughout the season.  The main one is our Winter Salad Mix.  In addition to spinach and arugula sold separately, we will be creating a fresh new salad mix each week with whatever greens are at their finest.  This is how we eat salad greens all winter, and it's so good that we're sharing it with you all.  The ingredients will be primarily lettuce, but also a mix of any of the following: spinach, mizuna, tatsoi, komatsuna, claytonia, Chinese cabbage, baby kale and baby chard.  We hope you like it!
 
 
Mizuna: a bright green, peppery salad green with pointy edges and a mild mustard taste
Tatsoi: a dark green, round, waxy leaf with a white stem that has a slight crunch and mild mustard taste
Chinese cabbage: a light green wavy leaf with a buttery texture and mild mustard taste
Komatsuna: a dark green, smooth, oblong leaf with good crunch and a mild mustard taste
Baby kale: a dark purple, frilly leaf with soft texture and a mild kale taste
Baby chard: a green leaf with pink veins and a buttery smooth texture with a mild chard taste
Claytonia: a thick bright green leaf with a somewhat triangular shape, a good crunch and a mild lemon taste

Sweetened by a few frosts, our fennel is amazing right now, still growing in the field.  We'll have it in storage in a few weeks, but don't miss out on trying it fresh from the ground!
